The Event: We plan to proceed as scheduled with prelims starting at 8:45AM, Saturday, Oct. 24 at West Chester University.
Our goal remains to "get in" the entire event, Prelims and Finals.
About Finals: If we are successful with Prelims, we will evaluate Saturday's evening projected weather and poll directors in mid-afternoon.
We will make a final determination on proceeding at the Finalist Director's Meeting.
Potential 13 Minute Schedule: In order to try to get everyone in before worsening weather, we may proceed on a 13-minute schedule and eliminate 15 minutes of the lunchtime break.
This would mean that prelims could end as much as one hour earlier.
Bands would enter (a shortened) warm-up two minutes earlier, progressively through the day (plus 15 minutes at lunch), so please plan your arrival accordingly.
If we choose this option, we will prepare and present you with new Prelims schedules at band check-in.
Rain Plan:
In Case of Light Rain: We intend to proceed with the show, on schedule.
In Case of Dangerous or other Intolerable Conditions: The show will be suspended or terminated in dangerous conditions (lighting, thunder, unsafe field, etc.). Directors and fans will be advised personally by BOA staff, or via text message, cell phone and/or public address. Where feasible directorsÕ opinions will be sought or polled.
Indoor Stand Still Performances: If we terminate the show before or during prelims, we will move indoors for standstill, non-competitive performances. Adjacent to the stadium, in the Sturzebecker Health Sciences Center, we have reserved the intramural basketball courts (space the equivalent of six courts) for indoor standstill performances. Beginning no earlier than 1:30PM, we would schedule standstill performances for those ensembles interested in participating.
Bands of America/Music for All would especially like to thank everyone at West Chester University and each of you for all your work. We pledge to do all we can to make the 2009 Championship at West Chester successful and worthwhile.
