The twentieth installment of a new series on the blog that we will be posting throughout the month of December. As some of you are aware, Music for All will be taking an Honor Band to the 2017 Rose Parade. Our members were selected by audition for the ensemble and come from all across the United States. We are looking forward to coming together for the first time as a band at the end of December and we hope this series will allow us all to get to know some (hopefully most!) of the members of this awesome ensemble!

What made you decide to apply to be a part of the band?
Ever since I have joined marching band I have wanted to march in the Rose Parade. This band is the perfect way to check the Rose Parade from my band bucket list.
What part of the trip are you most excited about?
Marching the 5.5 miles down Colorado Blvd.
What are three things you’ve learned from being involved in band?
I have learned many things during my involvement in band. Discipline is the most important thing I learned. In order to successfully teach an entire band, you need focus and discipline from every member. I also learned about the power of a united group. When every member of a group is focused on the same goal, the outcome is enormous. The most important lesson band can teach anybody is to drink plenty of WATER.
Most memorable moment in band?
My most memorable moment was taking the podium to conduct my bands closer, Nessun Dorma, for the departing senior class. Nessun Dorma is a beautiful piece of music that was the perfect send off for the seniors.
Besides band, what are you involved in at school?
I am also involved in the Symphony Orchestra and the Pit Orchestra at Santa Monica High School.

What’s your current plan for what you want to do after graduating high school?
I would like to attend a college with a marching band and receive a masters in aerospace engineering, and find a job in that industry.
