The fifty-third installment of a new series on the blog that we will be posting throughout the month of December. As some of you are aware, Music for All will be taking an Honor Band to the 2017 Rose Parade. Our members were selected by audition for the ensemble and come from all across the United States. We are looking forward to coming together for the first time as a band at the end of December and we hope this series will allow us all to get to know some (hopefully most!) of the members of this awesome ensemble!

What made you decide to apply to be a part of the band?
I knew it would be a once in a lifetime experience. United Sound has changed my life and this is a great way to share it.

What part of the trip are you most excited about?
I am most excited for the parade. Since I’m in orchestra, it will be an interesting learning experience and I will get a little taste of what my friends in marching band have to do.

What are three things you’ve learned from being involved in band?
United Sound has taught me to be a better friend, teacher, and more patient person. It’s helped me in all areas of my life, not just orchestra, and I’m grateful for the opportunity I have to participate in it.

Most memorable moment in band?
My most memorable moment in United Sound was when I performed in my first concert with my musician. When something we had been working on for a long time finally came together and I saw how excited she was, that made it all worth it.

Besides band, what are you involved in at school?
I participate in National Honor Society and my church. I also lifeguard and love to play the piano and ukulele.

What’s your favorite book?
My favorite book is probably To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee.

What’s your favorite song or piece of music?
I have too many favorite songs! I love anything from Broadway and I am obsessed with the Hamilton soundtrack.

Favorite movie?
Star Wars

Favorite ice cream flavor?
Cookie Dough

What’s your current plan for what you want to do after graduating high school?
I want to attend Brigham Young University and major in either Communications or Special Education. I also might serve an 18-month mission for my church.

Have you participated in MFA/BOA events before? Which ones?
This is my first one and I am so excited!

Tell us something interesting/unique about you:
I love to compose music on the piano. I wrote my first song when I was 8-years-old.
