The twenty-sixth installment of a new series on the blog that we will be posting throughout the month of December. As some of you are aware, Music for All will be taking an Honor Band to the 2017 Rose Parade. Our members were selected by audition for the ensemble and come from all across the United States. We are looking forward to coming together for the first time as a band at the end of December and we hope this series will allow us all to get to know some (hopefully most!) of the members of this awesome ensemble!

What made you decide to apply to be a part of the band?
My high school band director was in the first BOA Honors Band to perform in the Tournament of Roses Parade, and he is my hero! The opportunity to follow in his footsteps was something I just could not pass up!

What part of the trip are you most excited about?
Getting an opportunity to perform both in front of so many people and with so many other musicians! Our school and community are very, very small, so the opportunity to perform alongside 300 other talented musicians from around the country is going to be a new and fantastic experience. Getting to perform in world-famous parade just makes it that much more exciting!

What are three things you’ve learned from being involved in band?
Time management, that hard work and dedication always pay off, and the importance of team-work. Band has helped me develop in so many ways, but these are probably the most important.

Most memorable moment in band?
This past year, our marching band qualified for the State Finals for the first time in school history. To not only have this happen while I was in the band, but to have it happen when I was a senior and drum major was amazing!

Besides band, what are you involved in at school?
Show choir, winter guard, varsity tennis, quiz bowl, concert choir, varsity track, and student council.

What’s your favorite book?
Clockwork Orange

What’s your favorite song or piece of music?

What’s your current plan for what you want to do after graduating high school?
I hope to the attend Miami University in Oxford, Ohio to pursue studies pre-medicine and/or music education.

I have participated in the Bands of America Grand National Championships five times.
