The eighty-first installment of a new series on the blog that we will be posting throughout the month of December. As some of you are aware, Music for All will be taking an Honor Band to the 2017 Rose Parade. Our members were selected by audition for the ensemble and come from all across the United States. We are looking forward to coming together for the first time as a band at the end of December and we hope this series will allow us all to get to know some (hopefully most!) of the members of this awesome ensemble!

What made you decide to apply to be a part of the band?
I thought it would be a good way to expand my skills and meet some new people. Other band members previously participated and had a blast, so I thought “why not?”

What part of the trip are you most excited about?
I am most excited for the parade block and to see who I’ll be marching next to, and meeting my new section.

What are three things you’ve learned from being involved in band?
1. Time Management
2. How to be an Effective Leader
3. Social Skills and how to start conversations with people who you’ve never talked to.

Most memorable moment in band?
Our school takes a “big trip” every 4 years, and for ours, we went to Savannah, Georgia and marched in the St. Patrick’s Day parade. I was on a bus with some people I had never talked to and by the end of the trip I had built friendships with some new people and that was really exciting. We also called our bus the “Pat-Pat Party Bus” after our director Mr. Patton, and played the whisper challenge which was hilarious.

Besides band, what are you involved in at school?
Link Crew, Girl Scouts, and School Musical.

What’s your favorite book?
Looking for Alaska by John Green

What’s your favorite song or piece of music?
Godzilla Eats Las Vegas!

Favorite movie?
Captain America Winter Soldier

Favorite ice cream flavor?
Cookie Dough

What’s your current plan for what you want to do after graduating high school?
Attend a Community College and take a few classes, and experiment with a few different career fields.

Have you participated in MFA/BOA events before? Which ones?
BOA St. Louis and BOA Indianapolis!
