The fourty-first installment of a new series on the blog that we will be posting throughout the month of December. As some of you are aware, Music for All will be taking an Honor Band to the 2017 Rose Parade. Our members were selected by audition for the ensemble and come from all across the United States. We are looking forward to coming together for the first time as a band at the end of December and we hope this series will allow us all to get to know some (hopefully most!) of the members of this awesome ensemble!

What made you decide to apply to be a part of the band?
I applied for the band because I wanted to experience being a part of a marching band that was outside of my school. I also want to make lifelong friendships with people from all over the country.
What part of the trip are you most excited about?
I am most excited about the performance at Disneyland! I have never been there and I think that being able to perform there is such an honor that I will remember forever.
What are three things you’ve learned from being involved in band?
From being involved in band, I learned time management, team work, and how to be productive, while having fun at the same time.
Most memorable moment in band?
My most memorable moment in band was my junior year when my band went on a trip to San Francisco. I ended up getting very sick while we were there and I could not play my instrument for two weeks leading up to our Spring Concert. I was really nervous to perform at the concert, since I hadn’t played in a while and I also had two revealing solos. I ended up doing really well and everyone came up to me after the concert to congratulate me! It was most definitely a few weeks I will never forget.
Besides band, what are you involved in at school?
Besides being in our schools highest ensemble and a section leader in our marching band, I am President of Band Council, Vice President of our chapter of National Honor Society, and a Representative in our Student Government.

What’s your current plan for what you want to do after graduating high school?
I would like to attend Western Michigan University to obtain a Music Education Degree, with a History Education Minor.
Have you participated in MFA/BOA events before? Which ones?
I have never participated in any MFA/BOA events before, so I am very excited to participate in this one! Although, I would like to attend Summer Symposium this upcoming year.
Tell us something interesting/unique about you:
I am probably one of the most organized people ever. People are always telling me how organized I am and how they wish they could be as well. I am also a pretty good note taker.
