The eighty-second installment of a new series on the blog that we will be posting throughout the month of December. As some of you are aware, Music for All will be taking an Honor Band to the 2017 Rose Parade. Our members were selected by audition for the ensemble and come from all across the United States. We are looking forward to coming together for the first time as a band at the end of December and we hope this series will allow us all to get to know some (hopefully most!) of the members of this awesome ensemble!

What made you decide to apply to be a part of the band?
I enjoy marching in parades because it’s so much fun being able to interact a little more with the crowd, compared to a regular show. Last year my band traveled to London to march in the New Years Day Parade and I wanted an awesome experience like that one again. When I heard about the Rose Bowl Parade, I knew this was it!
What part of the trip are you most excited about?
I am most excited for the parade and meeting everyone! We have all been waiting a while to get to know each other and it will be nice to meet everyone, and participate in the parade!
What are three things you’ve learned from being involved in band?
Three things that I have learned in band are that you need to be able to adapt to change because we are constantly changing parts of the show whether that be choreography, music, or ideas. Also, to put your best effort all the time. By always trying your hardest, your band can try new things and make an amazing show. Lastly, to be successful you need to work as a team. If you put your band first instead of yourself, everything will get done faster, run smoothly, and overall make a great season!
Most memorable moment in band?
My most memorable moment in band was when my band went to a BOA show in 2014! It was very inspiring and exciting to see other bands, and their shows. It was also cool to see the level of excellence of the shows that made it to finals and see what that was like.
Besides band, what are you involved in at school?
I am part of my school’s theater program and was cast in this year’s play! I am also a part of DECA, a marketing club and recently qualified for the state competition in March.
What’s your favorite book?
The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald.

“If I Knew” by Bruno Mars

Strawberry
What’s your current plan for what you want to do after graduating high school?
I plan to major in Event Marketing and minor in Journalism at FIU or UNCC.
Have you participated in MFA/BOA events before? Which ones?
Yes, I went to the Music for All Summer Symposium in 2015 and participated in the master class.
Tell us something interesting/unique about you:
I am a very outgoing and I love to try new things and take risks. This has helped me to participate in events I never thought I could because I am not afraid to try new things!
