The fifty-fifth installment of a new series on the blog that we will be posting throughout the month of December. As some of you are aware, Music for All will be taking an Honor Band to the 2017 Rose Parade. Our members were selected by audition for the ensemble and come from all across the United States. We are looking forward to coming together for the first time as a band at the end of December and we hope this series will allow us all to get to know some (hopefully most!) of the members of this awesome ensemble!

What made you decide to apply to be a part of the band?
I was a part of Music for All’s Summer Symposium for two years. I really enjoy being around people as passionate as myself.

What part of the trip are you most excited about?
Meeting all of the amazing musicians in the band and learning where they are from.

What are three things you’ve learned from being involved in band?
One thing I’ve learned is leadership. I have been a section leader and have had people look up to me. Another thing that I’ve learned is that if you work hard for something you can achieve it. I have also learned that I need to push and strive to be my best at all times!

Most memorable moment in band?
The most memorable moment in band was the first time I stepped onto the field in front of a packed stadium and playing the first note as a member of the marching band.

Besides band, what are you involved in at school?
I am on the Academic Quiz Team and I’m involved in the Tri-M Music Honors Society program.

What’s your favorite song or piece of music?
My favorite song to listen to and play is “Feeling Good” by Michael Bublé because of the way it makes me feel.

Favorite ice cream flavor?
Cookies and Cream

What’s your current plan for what you want to do after graduating high school?
I wish to attend a college and become a music educator because of my passion for teaching and helping young musicians grow.

Have you participated in MFA/BOA events before? Which ones?
I have participated in the Music for All Summer Symposium for two years.
