Ainsley Berryhill: Education and Advocacy Intern, Summer 2022

Education:
Instrumental Music Education, University of the Pacific (2024)
Clovis North H.S., CA (2020)

Performing Arts Background/Involvement:
I play piano and trumpet, so I’ve been able to play in a lot of different ensembles, including marching band, wind ensemble, winter percussion, jazz band, and chamber groups while in high school. I was also a Drum Major for two years. Now, as a music major, I play regularly with the concert band, trumpet studio, and a student-led brass ensemble, but I’ve also performed in the choir, symphony orchestra, and pit orchestra for an opera production.

What has been your favorite part of your internship? Why?
My favorite part was Summer Symposium – visiting Indiana for the first time and meeting all of the staff members, faculty, and volunteers! I’ve been working remotely, so it was very satisfying to see some of the action, and the positive experiences of the participants.”

How do you like to spend your time outside of work and music?
I love to read and go to concerts. I’ve also started to do some hiking, and I hope to do a lot more traveling as I find opportunities!

What is something you hope to accomplish or become throughout your life?
I’m on track to become a music educator, but I’m also interested in music journalism and arts administration. Someday, I want to find ways to use my skillset to facilitate or promote music-making.

Thank you for a great summer, Ainsley!
