The one-hundred and eleventh installment of a new series on the blog that we will be posting throughout the month of December. As some of you are aware, Music for All will be taking an Honor Band to the 2017 Rose Parade. Our members were selected by audition for the ensemble and come from all across the United States. We are looking forward to coming together for the first time as a band at the end of December and we hope this series will allow us all to get to know some (hopefully most!) of the members of this awesome ensemble!

What made you decide to apply to be a part of the band?
My band didn’t really advertise this once in a lifetime opportunity, but my brother who was also accepted, told me about it and I decided that there was no point in not trying.
What part of the trip are you most excited about?
I’m excited to see all the talented musicians that I will be performing with and all the exciting places we are going to go. I’m also excited to work with well respected music instructors.
What are three things you’ve learned from being involved in band?
I’ve learned to be dedicated to everything that I do and will do. The whole group is the most important aspect and any improvements that an individual makes can help the entire group. I also learned how to lead by example, and that you must be a good role model for others if you want to be considered a good leader.
Most memorable moment in band?
My marching band went to perform at the National Independence Day Parade in Washington D.C. in 2015. I remember we sang happy birthday to my band director and she started crying right before we stepped off to march the parade.
Besides band, what are you involved in at school?
I don’t really do much other then band. I do take many AP and Honors classes.
What’s your favorite book?
1984 by George Orwell

Rhapsody in Blue by George Gershwin

What’s your current plan for what you want to do after graduating high school?
My current plan is to go to a university and pursue a degree in Electrical Engineering.
