The thirty-second installment of a new series on the blog that we will be posting throughout the month of December. As some of you are aware, Music for All will be taking an Honor Band to the 2017 Rose Parade. Our members were selected by audition for the ensemble and come from all across the United States. We are looking forward to coming together for the first time as a band at the end of December and we hope this series will allow us all to get to know some (hopefully most!) of the members of this awesome ensemble!
Name: Lindsey Rehmer
Hometown: Milford, OH
School Name: Archbishop Moeller High School
Section: Color Guard
What made you decide to apply to be a part of the band?
Ever since I was a little girl, my dad was the biggest DCI fan. We would go to different shows with him and I fell in love with the work the colorguard did. By the age of about 5, I knew that one day I was going to be doing that and I joined my freshman year, and I never looked back.
What part of the trip are you most excited about?
I am excited to meet everyone. I come from a small band that does not compete, and just getting to interact with people from different bands from all over the country is just so exciting for me. This will also be my first time going to California, which is also super exciting.
What are three things you’ve learned from being involved in band?
Being in band has taught me that imperfection is okay, and it’s how we react to to these imperfections that define us. Band has taught me that family is not just blood. My band is so small that we have formed one big family, and I truly don’t know what I would do without them. Also band has taught me how to enjoy the small moments together.
Besides band, what are you involved in at school?
I am also involved in my school’s chapter of the National Honor Society and community service.
What’s your favorite book?
Surrendered by Kariss Lynch
What’s your favorite song or piece of music?
Illuminations: Reflections of Earth
Favorite movie?
White Christmas
Favorite ice cream flavor?
Double Chocolate Chip
What’s your current plan for what you want to do after graduating high school?
I am hoping to attend either Coastal Carolina University or The University of North Carolina at Wilmington to study Exercise and Sports Sciences, and then move onto medical school to earn my doctorate in Emergency Medicine.
Have you participated in MFA/BOA events before? Which ones?
I participated in the 2015 Music for All Summer Symposium.
Tell us something interesting/unique about you:
I do not attend the high school I march for. The school I attend is Ursuline Academy, which is an all-girls Catholic high school. So I partner with our brother school, Archbishop Moeller High School, an all-boys Catholic. There I am able to march and do colorguard.
I have also been doing competitive cheerleading for thirteen years.
