The eighty-fifth installment of a new series on the blog that we will be posting throughout the month of December. As some of you are aware, Music for All will be taking an Honor Band to the 2017 Rose Parade. Our members were selected by audition for the ensemble and come from all across the United States. We are looking forward to coming together for the first time as a band at the end of December and we hope this series will allow us all to get to know some (hopefully most!) of the members of this awesome ensemble!

What made you decide to apply to be a part of the band?
It was actually a very spur of the moment decision. I had attended the Music for All Summer Symposium and on the Facebook page, Susie had posted that they still had empty spots left in the Color Guard. I already had a friend that applied and was going, so I thought spending a week with her in California would be fun and adventurous.

What part of the trip are you most excited about?
The whole trip sounds exciting. I’m looking forward to spending a week in California with my two friends, sightseeing, and going to Disneyland.

What are three things you’ve learned from being involved in band?
Leadership, hard work, and perseverance.

Most memorable moment in band?
My most memorable moment, although not Marching Band, was having an undefeated season in our circuit in Winter Guard my senior year.

Besides band, what are you involved in at school?
At college, I’m a part of TVC which is a student run TV station. I work on a sketch comedy show called UnwarranTed.

What’s your favorite book?
Either Perks of Being a Wallflower or the Unwind series.

What’s your favorite song or piece of music?
I can’t pick a favorite song, but I’m currently into the Hamilton soundtrack.

Favorite movie?
Perks of Being a Wallflower

Favorite ice cream flavor?
Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough

What’s your current plan for what you want to do after graduating high school?
I’m currently in college studying Journalism and Electronic Media with a possible minor in Spanish. I’m thinking of going into television after I graduate.

Have you participated in MFA/BOA events before? Which ones?
I attended Music for All Summer Symposium the past three summers.

Tell us something interesting/unique about you:
I currently teach Color Guard at a local high school and I want to become a published author.
